In the original recipe made by Ramón “Monchito,” it was Don Q Gold: a combination of rums aged between one and a half to five years. It is not a complex aging; therefore, the color of the rum is a light brown hue, hence the name Gold.

Although many people think of rum as a Caribbean product, it is not exclusive to the region, although many of the more popular rum distilleries are located here, such as Serrallés (maker of Don Q), Bacardí, Foursquare, and others.
